Southwind Range
De brief voor de KoningThe Southwind Range is the setting of Sir Andomaar’s death, an attack that deepens the growing evidence that Eviellan’s appeal for peace concealed continued hostility. The account links the remote mountain region to the wider crisis through the survival of Andomaar’s squire and the message he carried south.
Setting and Events
The narrative identifies the Southwind Range as the place where warriors from Eviellan killed Sir Andomaar, a loyal paladin who would never return to his homeland. The death is reported at King Unauwen’s court rather than shown as an action unfolding in the mountains, so the location enters the story through its consequence: news that another knight has been lost.
Associated People and Narrative Significance
Andomaar’s squire escaped the attack and reached the City of the South on the same day Tiuri and Piak arrived there. The king observes that the squire’s experiences may have resembled theirs, and that Andomaar may have been travelling to Unauwen with news like Sir Edwinem’s. His death therefore joins separate journeys and messages in the same political danger: the ruler of Eviellan had asked for peace, yet Eviellan’s warriors killed knights travelling in the region. The Southwind Range marks the cost of that contradiction, while the surviving squire carries the possibility of further testimony.
